Coronavirus: Confirmed cases in Peterborough nearly doubles as UK death toll rises by 260

The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Peterborough has nearly doubled in the space of 24 hours.

The total number of positive tests in the city has risen from 11 to 20, making it the sixth straight day where there has been a confirmed case.

Across the UK the number of people who have died from Covid-19 has hit 1,019 - a rise of 260 in the space of 24 hours.

There has also been a rise in the number of positive tests in Cambridgeshire which has jumped from 68 to 85, while in Northamptonshire the figure has risen from 86 to 106, and in Lincolnshire from 39 to 53.

In the UK there have so far been 17,089 cases, with 135 patients officially recovering, although both totals are likely to huge underestimates.
