Boots stays open and other stores offer click and collect as Peterborough’s Queensgate enters lockdown

Peterborough’s Queensgate is in lockdown to comply with Tier 4 restrictions but Boots and M&S Food remain open and other stores are offering click and collect services.

Queensgate centre director Mark Broadhead said: “Following the announcement that Peterborough will enter Tier 4, Queensgate Shopping Centre will be closed for non-essential retail from Sunday 20 December until further notice.

“Access to essential goods and services will remain open.

“This includes Boots, which can be accessed via the Boots Long Causeway entrance, and M&S Food, which is accessible via the centre’s Queen Street doors. Vision Express will offer appointments only.

“The following stores will be offering a click and collect service from Central Square with access via Queen Street: Beaverbrooks, John Lewis and Partners, Office, Schuh.

“We ask everyone to only visit the centre if absolutely necessary for essential goods and services. If doing so, please wear a face covering unless exempt, wash your hands regularly, and maintain social distancing from others.

“We will continue to maintain our thorough cleaning schedule at all times during this latest period.

“Thank you in advance for your support.”

In Tier 4 non-essential retail must close, including clothing and homeware stores, betting shops, tailors, tobacco and vape shops, electronic goods and mobile phone shops.

However, these stores can continue to operate click-and-collect systems, if goods are pre-ordered and collected off the premises, and delivery services.

“Essential” retailers such as food shops, supermarkets, pharmacies, garden centres, off-licences and Christmas tree retailers can continue to open.
