33 coronavirus deaths in a week at Peterborough City Hospital

The number of Covid patients to have passed away at the hospital in Bretton has risen from 239 on Christmas Eve to 272.
Moreover, since March 24, 394 patients being cared for by the North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust, which runs the city hospital, as well as Stamford and Rutland and Hinchingbrooke hospitals, have died.

Hide AdThe number of current coronavirus patients has also risen from 147 to 161 over the past week.
Trust chief executive Caroline Walker said: “I can confirm that, sadly, 391 patients being cared for in our trust have passed away since we began reporting Covid-19-related deaths.
“There have been 122 at Hinchingbrooke Hospital and 272 at Peterborough City Hospital.
“All patients were aged 30 to 98 years old and the majority of those had pre-existing health conditions. We are currently caring for 161 patients with coronavirus in our hospitals.

Government data states that 164 people in Peterborough who have died during the pandemic had Covid-19 put on their death certificate.
Similarly, 168 people in Peterborough have died within 28 days of a positive test.
For both, the death rates per 100,000 population are comfortably below the average in England.
