Be '˜clear on cancer' at Peterborough roadshows
Residents are being urged to be '˜clear on cancer' at a series of roadshows in Peterborough.
Latest figures show that in Peterborough around 41 people are diagnosed with bladder or kidney cancer each year and approximately 21 people in Peterborough die from these cancers annually.
Be Clear on Cancer’s ‘Blood in Pee’ roadshow is visiting The Queensgate shopping centre, Peterborough on Thursday, March 3 and Friday March 4, and the Serpentine Green shopping centre in Hampton on Saturday March 5 and Sunday, March 6 to raise awareness amongst residents of blood in pee as a key symptom for both bladder and kidney cancers.
Dr Jo Broadbent, Deputy Director for Healthcare Public Health and Workforce at Public Health England East of England said: “People may be reluctant to visit their doctor if they notice blood in their pee, thinking that it’s not anything serious, but the Be Clear on Cancer roadshow is a great way for individuals from the local area to learn about the key symptoms of bladder and kidney cancer – particularly blood in pee.
“Awareness is crucial, because the earlier cancer is diagnosed, the higher the chance of survival.”
