The new build will increase the amount of occupational, sensory, and physio-therapy provisions offered to the students, as well as supporting the local authority in meeting the needs of SEND students in Peterborough.

Carefully designed by architects, Hamson Barron Smith, and working closely with the local authority, the multi-use space can work as three classrooms, one single open space, or as a sports hub or dance studio.

There will also be additional spaces for student use including; changing rooms, toilets, a further classroom for dedicated small group teaching, and office space for staff.

Headteacher, Jude Macdonald, comments: “Due for completion in April 2021, being granted planning permission for the new extension is a great step on this journey to providing greater educational facilities for SEND students in Peterborough. At Marshifelds School, everything we do is led by the needs of our students and this new build will significantly benefit not only those already attending the school, but our future students for years to come.

“Our architects, Hamson Barron Smith, have done an outstanding job on the design of the building, incorporating everything needed to provide a truly multi-use space that allows us to use it as needed, especially as the school continues to grow.”
