The two-storey extension will allow The King’s (The Cathedral) School to provide additional changing facilities at its site in Garton End Road.

The school based in Park Road said “the current changing facility is insufficient to provide sufficient changing space for the whole year group or for those with a disability” due to an expansion in 2010 which saw the number of available pupil places rise from 850 to 1,200.

It added: “The proposal therefore is to extend the current building to provide sufficient space for the whole school year to change and to refurbish the existing facility and provide an accessible changing facility.”

The bathrooms will also be improved.

No objections were raised before approval was granted by the city council.

The school educates both primary and secondary pupils.
