Hampton Gardens school confirmed that news at around 8am this morning (November 8). The closure comes amidst reported problems with gas pressures across the Hampton area which has seen many residents left without gas for the last couple of days.

An online statement read: “Unfortunately due to the restriction on gas pressures affecting Hampton East and having to work in reduced temperatures yesterday, we have come in this morning to find that this has affected the boilers and at the current moment in time we do not have any heating or hot water. Therefore we have taken the decision to close the school for today. We will be in contact with the gas companies to find out when the heating is likely to be restored and will update you on this as soon as possible.

“We will be asking staff to set work remotely online. If children have not received this message we will hold them in school until they can be collected or alternative arrangements made for them to get home.

“Lessons will continue as normal at Hampton College. Any lessons that were due to take place at Hampton Gardens, will be available on Microsoft Teams.
