Peterborough school celebrates its 100th YouTube video for students during lockdown

Marshfields School is celebrating the production of its 100th YouTube video since the school closed to most students due to Covid-19 Watch below

The channel, which was launched to educate, entertain, and engage students during lockdown, has been used to provide mini lessons and general information that widens students' understanding of the world around them.

Videos have ranged from a writing poetry session to musical performance, a lip-sync battle, sensory circuits at home, cookery, and learning about unusual animals.

The channel has been used to engage students but has also significantly supported their mental health by allowing them to see familiar adults during the lengthy school closure. The videos, which have all been produced by staff at Marshfields School, have been a crucial part of the school’s overall response to Covid-19.

To celebrate the 100th video, a special 100th news show has been posted to the channel hereHeadteacher, Jude Macdonald, said: “As a progressive Peterborough school that puts student wellbeing at the core of everything we do, we needed a way to keep our students engaged whilst remaining remote.

"The videos have been brilliant for our students, but they’re also great for anyone of school age.

"Our staff have worked tirelessly during the lockdown to keep our incredible YouTube channel up to date and relevant, with regular, high-quality video content. It shows their commitment to the students at the school, both towards their educational and mental health well-being.”
