Peterborough A Levels: Success stories at Stanground Academy

Among the success stories is Taylor Bi who has received an offer to attend the University of Oxford.

Taylor, who achieved A*s in biology and psychology and an A in maths, is going on to pursue her dream of working in conservation, studying biology.

There are a number of other exceptional pupil achievements, including:

Anastasija Morozova achieved A*s in German and history, an A in Russian and a Distinction* in performing arts and has been accepted at Body Works Company in Cambridge to study professional dance.

Elita Atwere is going to the University of Leeds to study psychology after achieving A*s in English language and sociology and an A in psychology.

Ashleigh McHenry achieved an A* in philosophy and As in history and psychology and will be studying philosophy and theology at the University of Nottingham.

Rachna Karthik plans to study business management at Loughborough University after earning three Bs in physics, maths and psychology.

This year, due to Covid-19, the Government developed a grading process in which schools assessed each of their pupils based on the grades they considered they would have achieved, before being moderated nationally by external exam boards.

The grades received today were based on things such as coursework, mock exam results, prior performance in each subject and overall attainment over the past few years. These grades were then moderated and assessed by external exam boards which awarded the final grades.

Gary Carlile, Principal of Stanground Academy, said: “I am delighted for and incredibly proud of our pupils’ achievements; they have worked very hard over the past year, so it is wonderful to see them rewarded in this way.

“The school closures towards the end of the academic year posed a number of challenges, but through hard work and dedication, our pupils and staff were able to overcome these to continue the educational experience and stay connected as a school community.

“We wish all our leavers the very best for their next steps and look forward to hearing about their future achievements.”
