Percentage of Peterborough children offered place at preferred primary school revealed

The percentage of children in Peterborough offered a place at their first choice primary school has remained stabled compared to last year.

Overall, 2,381 pupils (93.4 per cent) will go to their preferred school in September, compared to 2,555 (93.7 per cent) in 2020.

In addition, 111 (4.3 per cent) will attend their second choice school, compared to 117 (4.3 per cent) last year, while 19 (0.7 per cent) have been offered a place at their third choice primary, similar to 22 (0.8 per cent) from 12 months ago.

In total, 98.4 per cent of parents have seen their child offered a place at one of their top three preferred schools compared to 98.7 per cent in 2020.

The council said every child has been offered a school to attend, even if it is not one of their three preferred options.

In total, the authority had 2,547 applications for places this year compared to 2,727 in 2020.
