Burrowmoor Primary Academy is celebrating an exciting milestone this week as the first phase of the school’s brand-new trim trail has been completed—thanks to the dedication and remarkable fundraising efforts of the Friends of Burrowmoor Primary Academy (FOBs).

Formed just one year ago, the FOBs have already raised an impressive £7,000 to bring this project to life. Through cake sales, bingo nights, auctions and generous donations from friends and families, the group’s hard work has turned a long-held aspiration into a vibrant new feature on the school field.

The completed trim trail offers children the chance to build fitness, coordination, strength and focus while having enormous fun. Pupils who have already tried the equipment are full of enthusiasm.

One excited Year 6 girl exclaimed, “This is awesome – I wonder if I can get the whole way along?” Another Year 6 pupil spent ten determined minutes navigating the entire route without touching the ground—ending with a proud grin.

To officially open the equipment, the ribbon was cut by Mr Peter Burrow, the beloved mascot of Peterborough Football Club. The club has long-standing, supportive links with the school, and his presence added an extra layer of excitement to an already memorable day.

FOBs members shared their pride in seeing the project reach this milestone, saying, “We have worked so hard with the school and are so proud to see our first major project bear fruit. The journey of fundraising continues—we have a wonderful Summer Fayre planned on our field in 2026.”

The school has also been fortunate to receive three well-established trees donated by parents, providing welcome shade for the youngest children and helping the field feel more settled and inviting. With each new addition, the outdoor space grows more vibrant and more central to school life.

Staff have expressed heartfelt thanks to the FOBs and the wider community for their ongoing support. The joy on pupils’ faces leaves no doubt: this trim trail is already making a real difference—and it marks only the beginning of what this dedicated group can achieve.
