Richard Lord, Headteacher, said: “Following all the controversy around this week’s results, it is great to see that so many students have performed so well. Congratulations to each individual on their hard work and thanks to the staff who have supported our students.

“It is worth noting that our staff spent a considerable amount of time working to provide accurate and quality assured centre-assessed grades for their students. Just like with last week’s A’ Level grades, this is not a time to be quoting whole school statistics. Today is all about each and every individual student. I am delighted to report, however, that our students’ results have improved and confirm that the quality of education at the Deepings School is good.

“We wrote to parents and carers this week to inform them that we had decided to honour this year’s Sixth Form offers on the basis of our teachers’ GCSE centre-assessed grades and any uplift from examination boards. Fortunately, for all students nationally, this will now be the case. Given the late announcement around BTEC results, we took the decision to share the latest version with students this morning, in the knowledge that some of these may improve next week. Staff are on hand to discuss individual Sixth Form applications today, as per the details on our website.

Additionally, students who made excellent progress since primary school included Erin Brown, Sophie

Hayes, Joseph Pastore, Grace Adams and Oliver Tooth.

Sophie Hayes said: “I’m beyond happy with my results. I’ve proved to myself that if you put your mind to something there is no limit to

what you can do.”

Jay McLearnon added: “I am really happy.  I worked really hard and feel I got the grades I deserved.”

Mr Smith, Head of Year 11, added “We are so proud of all of our Year 11 students. We were delighted with their work ethic and many had voiced how ‘ready’ they were for their exams before the closure. We believe that this is reflected in their results and we hope that they are as proud of their results as we are. We look forward to welcoming many of them next year into the Sixth Form. For those that follow a different route, we all sincerely wish them all the best for their future.”
