Family Voice Peterborough is urging people who feel they have unjustly missed out on securing a place to launch an appeal.

There has been anger nationally after 36 per cent of entries had a lower grade than teachers predicted, with three per cent below by two grades.

Under a ‘triple lock’ introduced at the last moment by the Government pupils are allowed to appeal based on their mock results and sit the exams in October if they are still unhappy.

Family Voice Peterborough said: “We completely understand this year’s A-Level results have produced a unique challenge for pupils, staff and officials.

“But worryingly we have heard reports that pupils with special educational needs have been missing out on university places.

“We would encourage anyone who believes they have the right to appeal to take that step so they do not miss out.

“We would also like to hear from families with a youngster who has SEND and received their results today to get their feedback.”
