Additionally, students who made excellent progress since their GCSE examination results included Adam Wallis, Callum Quinn, Andriani Tsamtsakis, Lucy Niblock, Euan Beeby and Nathan Pearson.

Phil Smith, Assistant Head Teacher with responsibility for the Sixth Form, said: “It is pleasing to see so many of our students rewarded with excellent grades, and so many having made terrific progress from their GCSEs given the difficult circumstances in which the Year 13 results have been generated this year.

“Make no doubt about it, this cohort of Year 13 students worked extremely hard and deserve their grades and the opportunities that these grades will present to them.”

Head Prefect Katie Hand achieved the top results this year, and said: “I am extremely grateful for all the support and encouragement my teachers gave me through sixth form, and I’m incredibly excited to be continuing my studies at Durham university in September.”

Head teacher Richard Lord, added: “In what has, of course, been a really unsettling few months for our students and their families, it is great to see that so many students have achieved excellent results. I would like to congratulate them on the hard work throughout their schooling that has led to these results and I would also like to thank the staff who have supported them in their studies. Our staff spent a considerable amount of time working to provide accurate and quality assured centre assessed grades for their students.

“Our priority at the moment is to support all of our students in progressing to their next step, whether that is university, an apprenticeship or full-time employment. We wish them all the very best for their respective futures. For any student who feels that the grade awarded was not a true reflection of their performance, we will be working hard to ensure that the recently announced ‘triple lock’ process is used to guarantee them the fairest grade possible.

“Whilst I do not think that it is appropriate or fair to quote whole school statistics this year, due to the different way that results have been derived during the COVID-19 pandemic, I am delighted to report that our students’ results have improved and confirm that the quality of education at the Deepings School is good.

“It has been a pleasure to serve our Year 13 students and their families, not just this year but in their seven years as part of the Deepings School community. We now look forward to welcoming a new cohort of Year 12 students into our Sixth Form on September 3.”
