Scores of job vacancies revealed in Peterborough to help during coronavirus crisis

Scores of job opportunities are being offered through JobCentre Plus by a range of employers from supermarkets to care agencies and delivery operators.

Details of the vacancies have been released as fears grow that unemployment could rise as many businesses struggle to stay afloat during the health crisis.

However, newly released figures show the number of people with jobs in the East of England is currently at a near record high of 3.12 million - up 8,000 on the year and up 381,000 on 2010.

The number of people unemployed is at 114,000 - down 81,000 on 2010.

It means the region’s unemployment rate is at 3.5 per cent - lower than the UK average of four per cent.
