The multi-million-pound investment would see Aldi commit to building a modern, spacious store on land south of Eastrea Road, with plans to create around 40 new full time and part time jobs.

Aldi has launched an online public consultation to showcase its plans ahead of submitting a planning application to Fenland District Council in the coming months. Addresses in the area have also been sent a consultation leaflet with an overview of the proposed development.

Richard Thompson, Property Director at Aldi said: “We’ve been looking to bring a new store to Whittlesey for some time and we are extremely excited about the prospect of bringing our fresh, high quality, low price proposition to more customers. The proposals, which make good use of a site in a sustainable location, will provide further choice for shoppers.

“We believe in consulting openly so we’re launching a ‘virtual’ public consultation in order to give everyone an opportunity to review our plans. We would encourage residents to provide their questions and comments via the project website or the consultation leaflet.”
