Peterborough taxi firm steps in to help workers hit by John Lewis closure
A Peterborough taxi firm has stepped in to help workers hit by the closure of John Lewis in Queensgate.
The closure of the store in the city was announced yesterday, leaving 318 staff facing the prospect of losing their jobs.
To help those workers, Goldstar Diamond Cars have offered workers a free taxi ride to job interviews to help them back into work.
A spokesman for Goldstar Diamond said: “John Lewis store Peterborough has been part of the Peterborough retail scene for as long as we can remember.
“Hearing of the saddened news of our Peterborough store closure GoldStar Diamond Cars would like to support all existing John Lewis staff through these difficult times.
“We will be offering free taxis to all existing staff for any future job interviews they may have within a radius of 20 miles as long as we have proof that they are employed by John Lewis.
“Peterborough is united as one, GoldStar Diamond Cars are here to support all the community through these difficult testing times.
“If we can help in anyway please do not hesitate to contact us on the dedicated email address, [email protected]
“The free taxi for interviews for John Lewis staff is valid from 29th March 2021 to 30th June 2021 inclusive.
“Please remember we will require proof of employment before getting into the taxi.”
