Peterborough city centre Carluccio's restaurant closes for good

The doors closed for good today at the under-threat Carluccio's restaurant in Peterborough city centre.

The Italian eaterie, which opened in Cumbergate five years ago, was living on borrowed time.

The financially troubled national chain announced in June it had entered into a Company Voluntary Arrangement putting 30 venues at risk under restructuring.

Unsustainable rent levels and rising business costs were cited for the closures in June.

The Peterborough restaurant was given a stay of execution, with an announcement that it was expected to stay open until December.

However, doors remained closed today with a number of customers receiving an email notifying them of its closure.
