Set over 20 acres of mature parkland, it is a popular destination for weddings and also hosts nine event/meeting rooms.

A brochure issued by agents Colliers International states: “The property has been in the same private ownership for nearly 30 years with a structured management team. It is felt that under committed new ownership and management the hotel should be capable of delivering significantly higher levels of operating profit.”

Offers in the region of £5,950,000 are being sought for the freehold of the site and business.

The brochure states that net turnover was just over £3 million in the year ending March 2019, generating a profit of £264,000.

Total occupancy at the Best Western Plus hotel was 73 per cent over the same period with an average room rate of £70.46.

Orton Hall, it adds, remained in private ownership until the mid-1950s when it was sold to a civic body and used as a private school.

It was acquired by the current owners Abacus Hotels Ltd around 1990 which converted it to a hotel.

The property retains many historic features including a baronial event room, conservatory and a number of 16th and 17th Century stained glass windows.
