Business mentor inspires £20,000 fundraising for NHS Covid fund AND offers £3,000 boost for young entrepreneurs

Rob Moore, co-founder of Progressive Property, based in Hampton, Peterborough, helps new and professional investors build up their property portfolios, via books, online courses, podcasts and networking events.

Rob explained: “When the lockdown happened, everyone realised that the nurses and support workers were putting their lives on the line and doing such a great job. The Clap for Carers started and I decided to change the focus of my Rob Moore Foundation.

“The foundation usually helps people to start up their business and get a better financial education, especially young and under-privileged people.”

He appealed to the online community who follow and support his events, seminars and tutorials via social media. People who want to run their own business and be entrepreneurs or have already started up benefitting from his experience as a mentor.

Rob ran some tutorial online video events where guests were invited to donate instead of pay their usual fee. They quickly raised £10,000 between them to go towards NHS Charities Together after the concerns about drastic shortages in PPE for care workers. The Rob Moore Foundation then matched that with another £10,000. The actual total figure donated was £19,450.35 which will go to help NHS staff and volunteers to care for Covid patients.

He said: “It feels better for a community to have raised that £10,000 between them than my foundation just giving it all. There were probably 150 members who donated an amount and they all get that share of the satisfaction in helping.”

Rob is currently doing another venture where he is gong to give just over £3,000 to a start-up or scale-up entrepreneur with a “meaningful” business model that could change lives. He wants to hear some amazing stories of how these people have overcome challenging circumstances in their life or upbringing, to earn an equal opportunity to be self-sufficient and successful. The money could help get them through scholarships, apprenticeships, education and inspiration. They could also benefit from mentoring to develop their talents or acquire the necessary learning materials, such as computers and books.

Out of 150 applicants they have wittled it down to seven finalists and Rob’s online community from around the world will be listening in and voting on who will get this gift.

Rob said: “My mum is a trustee of the foundation and she said two applicants have made her cry. We will be annoucing the winner live on video with our community so everyone sees the reactions.”
