Lamphouse is looking for a group of volunteer Peterborian actors (anyone who is over 16 and has a connection to the city) who will be vital in telling this epic story through sketches, songs, silliness and satire.

You might be a news reporter in the field, you might spot the escaped hamster and have to give an interview, you might even be the hamster’s next door neighbour!

During online sessions, Lamphouse actors will work with you to create or devise around scenes and songs. You’ll then be able to go off and record your scenes for the film.

The company is known for devised and collaborative theatre making and is looking for performers who are willing and excited to jump in and get involved!

Lamphouse Theatre is well known in the city for creating exciting, comedy and music-filled adventures (pictures are from earlier productions) and Peterborough Ate My Hamster will be no exception.

Artistic director Tom Fox said: “We love telling epic stories and have spent the last 10 weeks of lockdown making online shows in our living room.

“For our next challenge we’ve decided to take an even bigger step and create a high quality short film packed with action, bonkers comedy and brilliant music. We’re really looking forward to working with a cast of professional artists and members of our fantastic local community.”

The first introductory session for Peterborough Ate My Hamster will be on June 17, 7.30pm (1.5hrs) via Zoom. After this, depending on the ideas that come from the session, Lamphouse will gather people in groups at times suitable for them.
