This year, Cherry Hinton Care Home was delighted to take part in Operation Christmas Child, helping to bring joy to children around the world.

We organised a Christmas Shoebox Donation Station right here in our home, inviting our residents, relatives, team members, and members of the public to contribute small gifts to fill the boxes. The response was truly wonderful — we received a fantastic number of thoughtful and generous donations.

All the gifts were delivered to Cottenham Hall, where on 1st November, volunteers came together to sort and pack them. Thanks to everyone’s kindness and effort, an incredible 554 shoeboxes were created!

These boxes will now be sent to children in need across the globe — children who may not otherwise receive anything this Christmas. Knowing that our community has helped to bring smiles and joy to so many makes this initiative especially meaningful.

A huge thank you to everyone who donated, helped, and supported this wonderful cause. Together, we’ve made a difference this festive season!

BDM Aga Clark commented: “It’s been heart-warming to see our residents, families, and the wider community come together for such a meaningful cause. The generosity and kindness shown by everyone involved truly capture the spirit of Christmas.”
