Peterborough care group named finalist for Care Group of the Year at national care awards
Fortava Healthcare, which operates two specialist dementia care homes in Peterborough, has been named as a finalist for Care Group of the Year at the Caring UK Awards.

Now in their ninth year, the Caring UK Awards recognise excellence and achievement across the UK care sector, with a record number of entries received this year.
Fortava Healthcare operates Thorpe Wood and The Maltings in Peterborough, where its central Support Hub is also based. The group operates three further specialist dementia care homes in Nottinghamshire: Wilford View, Stapleford View and Long Eaton View.

Its approach is centred around seeing the person rather than the dementia and ensuring that those living within its homes continue to experience identity, purpose, choice and meaningful relationships.
Johann van Zyl, Co-Founder and CEO of Fortava Healthcare, said: “At Fortava, we believe that dementia does not erase a person's identity, abilities or need for purpose and meaningful relationships. Our approach is built around understanding the individual, recognising what matters to them and creating opportunities for them to continue living fulfilling lives.
“To have this philosophy recognised at a national level is particularly meaningful to us, because it reflects what we believe specialist dementia care should be.”
Jamie Stuart, Co-Founder and CFO of Fortava Healthcare, said: “Being named a finalist for Care Group of the Year is something we’re extremely proud of. Fortava has been built around a simple ambition: to provide great care while creating homes where people genuinely matter.
“This recognition belongs to our teams across the group. Their commitment to the people we support is what makes Fortava special, and I’m incredibly proud of what we are achieving together.”
Fortava’s specialist approach combines high-quality dementia care with meaningful occupation, activities and opportunities for residents to remain actively involved in everyday life.
Fortava will now progress to the next stage of the Caring UK Awards judging process, ahead of the announcement of the winners at the awards ceremony at The Athena in Leicester on Thursday 3 December 2026.
