Local charity announces art competition to win a school chick-hatching experience

PECT’s Climate Education team has partnered with The Happy Chick Company to give local schools an exciting opportunity to connect children with nature, biodiversity and sustainability, with the chance to win a hands‑on chick‑hatching experience and 6 months’ free access to our award‑winning Climate Education platform.

Human activity is having an increasing impact on our natural environment, affecting not only wildlife, but also our own health and wellbeing.

By engaging children and young people with biodiversity, as the custodians of the future, we stand a better chance of protecting what we have and enhancing it so that it can thrive for generations to come.

This competition invites pupils to get creative, think sustainably, and explore how wildlife and people can flourish together.

To enter, children are invited to design a wildlife garden for their school, home or local community. Designs should be realistic and achievable within the chosen space, no larger than A3, and can be as bright, bold and colourful as you like.

Entries are open to nursery, infant, junior and primary, and secondary schools.

Entries should be scanned and submitted to [email protected] by 30 May 2026, and the original artwork should be kept, as selected designs will be displayed on Outdoor Classroom Day (21st May) as part of our School Sustainability Showcase at ARU Peterborough (final few school places left available).
