Huntingdon opticians celebrates 25 years of serving the community
A FUN-FILLED day of celebrations marked a Huntingdon store’s quarter of a century anniversary.
Specsavers Huntingdon was decorated with balloons, a cake was shared, and customers received goodie bags to mark the 25-year milestone.

Councillor Audrey McAdam, Mayor of Huntingdon, joined the Specsavers team on the day to celebrate as well as speak with customers.
Since opening in December 1999, the store has carried out more than 350 eye tests each week. Several of these have led to life-saving treatment.

The store has undergone two major refits and now has four optical rooms and two dedicated audiology rooms with over 20 team members.
In 2018, the store expanded to become a hearing hub, meaning they have been able to help more than 3,000 customers with their hearing needs.
Naznin Gulamhusein, the store’s audiology director, says: ‘I have made friends for life over the years and had incredible support from my team, which has made it possible to run and support my team as well.
‘It is so rewarding to see this store bustling with members of the community who have come to know us, and to help save lives.’

The store also raised over £50 for Blind Hunts, an independent charity dedicated to supporting people with site impairment in Huntingdon.
Alexandra King, from the charity, says: ‘We’re so grateful to the team at Specsavers Huntingdon for their support of the visually impaired and blind community across Huntingdonshire, helping to ensure that no one has to face sight loss alone.’
Anyone unable to visit the Specsavers Huntingdon store unaccompanied due to disability or illness may be eligible to receive care at home via a team of mobile opticians. The Specsavers home visits service covers more than 90% of the UK.
