Gunthorpe Primary School appoints a new Headteacher

Gunthorpe Primary School, part of Soke Education Trust, has appointed a new headteacher, Mrs Charlotte Brattan.

After 14 years working across the school, Charlotte officially took up her new position on May 1st.

Charlotte’s teaching journey began at Werrington Primary School, another local school within Soke Education Trust, where she worked as a Year 6 class teacher for five years.

She joined Gunthorpe as a Phase Leader and subsequently served as Assistant Head and Deputy Head prior to her appointment as Headteacher.

Reflecting on her journey at Gunthorpe Primary School, Charlotte said she is proud of the experience she has gained at the school and believes it has prepared her well for this new role. She said: “It is a great privilege and honour to lead this wonderful school. I feel fortunate to continue my journey alongside a dedicated team of teaching and wider school staff, as well as a school community of parents, carers and pupils who I already know well and look forward to working closely with in this new role.”

Charlotte outlined her vision for the school, focusing on ensuring children have the very best start to their learning journey and continuing to embed the school's nurturing culture.

Charlotte added: “I want every child to feel valued, supported and have a true sense of belonging in our school. The wellbeing of our pupils will remain at the heart of everything we do, and I am committed to creating an environment where every child can thrive both academically and personally.”

Gunthorpe Primary School is part of Soke Education Trust, a community of six Peterborough primary schools with a shared ambition to ensure every child strives for high achievement, explores the world around them and transforms their life opportunities.

The appointment was welcomed by Cathy Carlisle, CEO of Soke Education Trust, who said: “We are delighted to appoint Charlotte as Headteacher of Gunthorpe Primary.

“Having worked at the school for many years, she brings a deep understanding of its values, community and strengths. Her experience, dedication and clear commitment to pupils' wellbeing and achievement make her well placed to lead the school into its next chapter.”
