Barratt Homes has donated six new four-person tents to 17th Nene (The Hamptons) Scout Group. The new equipment will help the group continue offering overnight camping trips, a core part of the Scouting experience.

James York, Group Lead Volunteer at 17th Nene (The Hamptons) Scout Group, said: “We are incredibly happy to receive this donation of six new tents from Barratt Homes. As a charity with a limited budget we often have to make do and therefore our tents are now getting quite old and tatty with many tent poles that have been repaired many times over!

“Our young people are very happy at the prospect of camping in new tents. For some of our young people, going away on camp is their first experience of spending a night away from their parents/carers. I think they would all agree it is one of the things they enjoy most about being a part of Scouts.

“Too often we hear of young people being involved in anti-social behaviour which I believe stems from the fact that they don't feel a part of the community in which they live.

“The fact that Barratt Homes is actively supporting the communities where they are building new homes is great to see and I hope this inspires others to do the same.”

17th Nene (The Hamptons) Scout Group provides activities for young people aged four to 14, with sections including Squirrels, Beavers, Cubs and Scouts.

The donation will give members more opportunities to take part in outdoor activities, helping them build confidence, independence and lasting friendships. The tents are expected to be used regularly, supporting at least five trips each year.

Simon Francis, Managing Director at Barratt Homes Northampton, said: “We’re proud to support this local scout group and the important role it plays in helping young people build confidence, teamwork and resilience.

“By donating these tents, we hope more young people can enjoy the outdoors and benefit from the experiences that come with it.”

Hampton Beach currently offers a range of two, three and four bedroom homes to suit a variety of buyers, including first-time buyers, second steppers and growing families.
