Bullseyes, banter and first-time shooters at Whittlesey Rifle Club

Whittlesey Rifle Club was delighted to welcome members of the Whittlesey & District Tangent Club last month for a fun and friendly taster shooting evening.

Following a full safety briefing, the ladies took to the range in groups to try their hand at shooting .22 rimfire target rifles. For many, it was a completely new experience, but there were plenty of smiles, lots of encouragement and some genuinely impressive scores from first-time shooters.

The evening was another great example of how target shooting can bring people together socially, build confidence and introduce people to a safe, disciplined and enjoyable sport that many had never tried before.

Whittlesey Rifle Club is proud to support community engagement and always welcomes local groups who would like to learn more about target shooting in a safe and friendly environment. The Club will also be open for the Whittlesey Big Bash on June 21st, where families will be able to try their hand at the sport.

It has also been a busy few weeks competitively for the club. Club President Matt Skelhon recently took part in the Gibraltar Open, where he came first in three 50m matches and three 10m matches, while also setting a new 10m range record.

Members Steve Haynes and Darshan Singh also enjoyed success, winning divisional trophies.
