“Amazon has given me confidence, support and a sense of belonging”: Cambridgeshire man marks 15 years with Amazon
Cambridgeshire’s Jaspal Benning is celebrating 15 years with Amazon, having built his career across a range of roles while supporting colleagues and contributing to cultural programmes at Amazon in Peterborough. .
Jaspal joined Amazon in 2011, beginning at an entry-level associate role in packing, before moving into a variety of positions and progressing into his current role in picking.
Reflecting on his journey, Jaspal says the opportunities and support he received have played a key role in building his confidence over time.
“When I first joined, I didn’t know what to expect but Amazon gave me the chance to grow and find my place,” he says. “Over the years, I’ve built my confidence, learned new skills and found a role that really suits me. The support throughout my time at Amazon has made a great impact on my growth.”
Alongside his day-to-day role, Jaspal has been actively involved in supporting cultural programmes across the site. He has supported on organising celebrations for key moments including Ramadan and Eid, bringing colleagues together and creating opportunities to learn more about different cultures.
“Being part of the cultural events is really important to me,” he says. “I enjoy bringing people together and seeing everyone get involved. When colleagues tell me they’ve enjoyed it or learned something new, that’s what makes it special.”
Jaspal also takes part in community initiatives, including supporting visits from local schools. He has worked with students with special educational needs, sharing his experience and encouraging them as they consider their future careers.
“I like being able to support the students when they visit, especially when they’re from my old school,” he says. “Seeing them here is really special for me and if I can help them feel more confident about their future or show them what’s possible, that’s something I’m really proud of.”
One of his favourite memories is taking part in site events and dressing up for seasonal celebrations, helping to create a fun and welcoming environment for colleagues and visitors.
“It’s always great to be part of those moments,” he says. “It brings a lot of energy to the site and puts a smile on people’s faces.”
Reflecting on his 15 years with Amazon, Jaspal says it is the people and sense of community that have made the biggest difference to him.
“For me, it’s the people,” he says. “You come in, see your colleagues and feel part of a team. That’s what’s kept me here and made it such a positive experience. I’ve had a lot of support over the past 15 years and I’m really grateful for that. I’m looking forward to what I can do next within Amazon.”

Amazon in Peterborough has been a key part of the company’s UK operations since it opened in 2010. The fulfilment centre has created thousands of jobs in the Peterborough area and continues to play a vital role in delivering for customers across East England and beyond.
