'World’s biggest’ dinosaur exhibition set to open at Peterborough Cathedral

An exciting opening is taking place at Peterborough Cathedral!

For the first time, a full scale case model of one of the biggest dinosaurs ever found has gone on show in Peterborough.

The cast of the Patagotitan Mayorum- known as the Titanosaur- is being loaned to Peterborough Cathedral by the Natural History Museum for six weeks, providing locals with a rare chance to see the creature’s awe-inspiring scale up close.

The cast model will tower over everyone in the building, measuring 37 metres long and six metres tall.

The original fossil was discovered in 2010 in Argentina, when a farmer spotted a bone emerging from the Earth. Excavations uncovered around 280 bones from at least six individuals, offering scientists a rare glimpse into the lives of these prehistoric giants.

They lived around 70 million years ago – at the same time the mighty T-Rex was thriving. While T-Rex stood at an impressive six metres, it would have been dwarfed by the Titanosaur.

Titanosaur will be housed in Peterborough Cathedral between Monday, April 13 and Sunday, May 31.

Tickets are priced at £6 and can be obtained on the door or in advance at https://peterborough-cathedral.org.uk/event/titanosaur.
