CycleFest promises to offer something for all ages and abilities when it takes place on Sunday, October 25, at the East of England Arena and Events Centre, with just 2,000 tickets being released to ensure there is enough space for everyone to be safe.

Throughout the day, visitors can enjoy BMX stunt shows from Fusion Extreme and a kids zone, featuring a pop-up velodrome from Street Velodrome, pedal karts, crazy bikes and balance bikes. The stunning Cambridgeshire countryside will provide the backdrop to a 50km and 100km sportive, hosted by Mad Hare Cycling Club.

Following the government’s introduction of further restrictions, including the ‘rule of six’, to help tackle rising Covid-19 cases, organiser Cube Management has - and continues to - work closely with Public Health England, Peterborough City Council and the venue, which recently hosted TruckFest over the August Bank Holiday weekend, to make sure the necessary precautions are met.

These include; full social distancing across the site, including six-person viewing spaces, distanced queuing systems and one way systems, track and trace on arrival, public hand sanitisers across the site and a ‘bring your own bike’ policy. All kids’ zones will be fully disinfected between uses and all food and drink traders are the venue’s preferred suppliers.

Carl Thompson, MD of Cube Management, said: “We appreciate that given the existing - and introduction of new - restrictions due to Covid-19, people are rightfully wary of going out and attending events. However, we have been working very closely with the relevant organisations to ensure the event is safe.

“We have been collaborating with the East of England Arena to ensure the measures we have in place are clear and are therefore delighted to have been accredited by the Safe Event Scheme.

“This is set to be a fantastic event for both cycling enthusiasts and families alike. We look forward to welcoming everyone on the day and simply ask that everyone pay attention to the guidance to make it a great experience for everyone.”

In accordance with British Cycling regulations up to 600 cyclists are invited to take part in the sportive. Entry costs £25 and also includes entry to CycleFest itself.

Tickets for CycleFest, which takes place between 8am and 5pm, costs £10, while under 12s go free. For more information, or to purchase tickets, please visit https://www.madhare.cc/cyclefest
