Between November 19 and December 4, those who but a ticket will be treated to an extraordinary journey of light installations, snowfall, music, and community creativity.
When visiting the Cathedral at dusk, what will be immediately obvious is the atmospheric lighting as well as the appearance of Santa’s sleigh, along with his reindeers!
Then visitors inside will be treated to an immersive light and sound journey, drawing you the medieval spaces. Among the many things to notice will be a spectacular projection on the Nave ceiling, where visitors can follow the guiding star.
Visitors will also be able to enjoy over 40 lit up Christmas trees, each one decorated by local community groups, charities and businesses as part of the Cathedral’s inaugural Christmas Tree Festival.
This is along with papier-mâché reindeer and other animals created by over 25 local schools, standing proudly among the displays.
The Christmas Tree Festival will then continue into the new year, filling the cathedral with colour and sparkle until January.
The Christmas Tree Festival is included in the ticketed evening Wonder of Christmas event but will also be open during the day with entry secured via a suggested donation.
Tickets can be booked in advance online. Paying on the night via card is possible if there is availability.
There is also a special offer for visitors, who can pop into Cote Brasserie in the city centre before or after their visit to claim a free glass of fizz (alcoholic or non-alcoholic) by showing their Wonder of Christmas ticket.
