Tickets for 'remarkable' World War II Longest Yarn exhibition at Peterborough Cathedral go on sale
Peterborough Cathedral will be hosting a sequel to last year’s popular ‘The Longest Yarn’ exhibition this June.
The much-anticipated sequel is named, The Longest Yarn II: Britain at War and will run between Wednesday June 3 and Saturday June 27.
The exhibition will feature 80 intricately crafted panels of “wool art”, each one metre in length, telling the story of life in Britain from the declaration of war on 3rd September 1939 to VE Day on 8th May 1945.
Visitors will encounter key moments including the King’s Speech, the Blitz, D-Day, the bombing of major cities, the Home Guard, the Women’s Land Army, rationing, and the resilience of communities across the country.

Alongside the panels, visitors will meet ‘The Gang’ - eight life-size figures representing the people who carried Britain through the war, from a Land Girl to a Spitfire pilot, bringing these stories vividly to life within the Cathedral setting.
Visitors have been advised to expect queuing and that booking tickets in advance will help to reduce waiting times and to ensure a smoother visit.
