Peterborough’s Firework Fantasia could still go ahead this year

Peterborough’s Firework Fantasia could still go ahead this year as organisers look to see if it could take place while keeping visitors coronavirus-safe.

The Autumn event takes place around Bonfire Night - just over a month away - at the East of England Showground.

While many events have been cancelled this year, organisers are still working to see if it is possible to host the event, and stay within the coronavirus safety guidelines.

The showground has hosted Truckfest over the August bank holiday this year, and this weekend will be hosting the Festival of Antiques, one of the biggest events of its type in the country.

A spokesman said: “The team at the venue and others are currently exploring ways to deliver a Covid secure fireworks event.”

The 2019 Fireworks Fantasia raised money for Sue Ryder and the Young People’s Counselling Service (YPCS).
