The one-day event was planned to take place at the East of England Arena on Sunday October 25, with 2000 tickets having been released.

Attractions that were set to feature were BMX stunt shows from Fusion Extreme and a kids zone, featuring a pop-up velodrome, pedal karts, crazy bikes and balance bikes.

Organisers, however, have now taken the decision to postpone, given the uncertainty caused by the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

Full refunds will be offered to those that have brought tickets and they will be processed automatically ‘in due course.’

Dean Brennan, speaking on behalf of the event organiser Cube Management, said: “Following consultation with local businesses and cycling groups we’ve made the incredibly difficult decision to postpone Cyclefest.

“With such continuing uncertainty around COVID-19, we feel that postponing the event at this time is the right decision.

“We are committed to putting on the very best event possible but with the current restrictions in place and potential of more coming into force in the coming days and weeks, we believe this would really impair the quality of the experience for all involved.

“We’d like to take this opportunity to thank all the local businesses who have been involved and reassure everyone that we fully intend to reschedule the event at a time when it is appropriate to do so.”

Jason Lunn, Venue Director, East of England Arena, added: “Whilst I am disappointed that CycleFest has postponed this year’s event, I would like to emphasise that our venue remains open, Covid19 secure, and is hosting events in compliance with the appropriate guidance.

“The postponement of this year’s event is not related to the Covid-19 security of the venue but is an independent decision made by the event organiser. The event had been passed to run as per the organiser’s original plans, something we were able to achieve through our close working relationship with the local authority and public health.

“Similarly, we have worked with the local authority and public health to deliver four events over the last few weeks, each of which has been Covid-19 secure.

“We will soon be welcoming the Inflatable 5K, Drive-In Fireworks, Clever Monkee Comedy Festival, and the Restoration & Spares Market, and we will be announcing more in the coming weeks.

“Each event running at the venue will meet, or exceed, the Covid19 guidance and regulations as laid out by the government and public health authorities.”
