A statement from the cathedral said: “After much careful planning, Peterborough Cathedral is delighted to announce that its popular Christmas Craft and Gift Market will take place this year on Friday 20th and Saturday 21st November 2020.

“The Market stalls will be spread over a wide area within the Cathedral to allow plenty of room for social distancing, and the now familiar rules of wearing a face covering, sanitising hands on entry and exit, and following a strict one way system will be in place.

“Amongst the unique range of gifts and hand crafted items on sale will be jewellery, glassware, woven items using recycled materials, soya wax candles, appliqué cushions and other fabric items, as well as fudge, children’s books, Christmas decorations, bamboo socks and lots more.

“The beautiful Cathedral interior is an inspiring space in which to do some Christmas shopping and this year, due to extended opening hours and timed entry to manage the flow of visitors, it promises to be a calming experience too, without the usual jostling in a crowd.”

All shoppers are asked to book a timed entry ticket in advance, at £2 per person (under 16s free of charge but booking still required) so that queueing is avoided.

The opening hours of the market are:

Friday 20th November: 10am to 5pm and 7pm to 9pm

Saturday 21st November: 10am to 5pm.
