The city’s “1st lady of Nightclubbing” celebrated its 50th Anniversary in December last year when Steve Jason, owner of The Met Lounge which occupies the same site, managed to persuade original DJs Tom Bryan and Dave King to dig out the records one more time.
Steve commented: “It was intended to be a 'one off event' but the interest created was huge, we sold out in advance. It is fair to say I have never had so many people who attended the first one, and indeed the people who couldn't get tickets for the first one, asking us to do it 'one more time'.
“So, I asked Tom 'Fancy doing another'? and after a brief pause for thought , he said 'I'm in, lets do it again ‘”.
So make a date in your diary - Saturday 14th November for the Anabelles second 50th reunion – the same date that Anabelles originally opened in 1975; 51 years to the day!
The original DJ team of Tom Bryan and Dave King will once again reunite behind the turntables to spin the records that filled the floor from 1975 through to 1983.
As with the first event, there is a dress code – unheard of nowadays – but there is a ‘No Jeans or Trainers’ policy and the minimum age for entry is 50.
Said Steve: “If you came to the first one you'll know how good it was. People you hadn't seen for years…. memories of getting dressed up to go out dancing!.
“As before we're raising money for Tom’s chosen charity - Prostate Cancer Research.
