Singer plans to showcase musical talent across Peterborough - with a series of events planned for Met Lounge

A professional singer and events organiser from Peterborough has created a new project to showcase R&B, soul and pop artists across the city.

Ramaen Cole is organising a self-funded musical showcase event called the Circles Sessions at The Met Lounge this summer.

The aim is to create three sessions a year where the next wave of R&B, Soul and Pop artists can connect with like-minded creatives, perform their latest songs and grow their audience.

“Through my experience in the city, I’ve noticed a real gap when it comes to consistent platforms for RnB, Soul, and Pop artists to perform their original music,” Ramaen said. "This showcase will help to bridge that gap and contribute to something meaningful to the local creative scene.

“I’m passionate about building spaces that genuinely uplift emerging talent in and around the county, as well as a live music event where every feels seen, leave energised and inspired.”

Ramaen says each event will aim to deliver “a powerful live experience” - featuring an eight-piece R&B house band, five artists and a DJ – creating a night filled with “great music, connection, and non-stop vibes”.

The singer’s journey in music has been shaped by profound personal challenges, including the loss of his father to motor neurone disease in 2019. During this time, he said music became both "an escape and a form of healing”.

The loss of his father, who was a professional DJ, caused Ramaen to step back from music in 2018 to focus on personal challenges in his life. He returned to his art in 2024 – a time which Ramaen said felt like he was “rediscovering a core part of who I am”.

In the last two years, he has transitioned from writing and performing privately to taking his sound to the stage. This has included appearing at the Royal Albert Hall as a backing vocalist for Grammy Award-winning artist Tens, singing at a luxury wedding in Italy last November and a 10-day Scotland tour.

Back in Peterborough, his schedule for this year includes performances at Peterborough Celebrates, Peterborough's Weekender, among other events.

His first Circle Session will take place at The Met Lounge on July 3rd, with a second event already planned for October. Along with his own performance, artists booked for July include Emanuela, Collette, Ola, BLVCKROSE and DK THEW.

“More than just a showcase, it’s designed as a social, feel-good night for R&B lovers, where people come together, enjoy music and soak up good vibes,” Ramaen adds. “Whether you're looking to discover new artists, meet people or simply enjoy a lively music event, The Circle Sessions offers a space that's both exciting and welcoming.”
