New radio station for Peterborough to offer community-focused entertainment and familiar hits
A new digital radio station is set to hit the airwaves in Peterborough.
Boomerang Radio aims to provide entertainment and hits from the 1960s to the early 2000s – all the while remaining community-focused.
The new station will be headed up Bill Hensley who brings more than five decades of broadcasting knowledge and experience to the venture. He is joined by a team of experienced presenters from many other radio stations, offering familiar and new voices.
“Boomerang Radio has a big city sound but will always strive to be at the heart of the local community,” Bill said: “Boomerang will bring listening to local radio and communicating with the presenters into a new era for listeners, community groups and businesses in the area, with low cost advertising and sponsorship rates for businesses”.

With the slogan ‘Boomerang Radio – where the hits keep coming back!’ – the station will include local news, sport, and weather, as well as community features, song requests, competitions, events and support for local businesses and charities.
It is being run by a group of volunteers who all work remotely, which keeps the station’s running costs to a minimum.
Boomerang Radio began broadcasting in other parts of Cambridgeshire a few months ago, but will soon be broadcasting a dedicated Peterborough show.
"We have been on air since October 31, online only, but we will know when we will be on DAB Peterborough any time soon,” Bill explained. “Chris Tibbles will announce the date during the Breakfast Show on Monday 26 January.”

“You can listen on DAB, via the website, boomerangradio.co.uk, via the mobile app (free from your app store), and also on smart speakers - just ask Alexa to “Enable Boomerang Radio UK”. We will only be playing the biggest songs from the 60s to the 2000s that are instantly recognisable.”
He added: “You can get involved as and advertiser, sponsor, or just by letting us know of events you would like promoted, by contacting [email protected].”
