Heather Small clarifies Peterborough Cathedral gig position after saying on Facebook that 'show had never been booked'

Show had been due to take place on November 1

Heather Small has clarified a planned sell out gig at Peterborough Cathedral will be taking place in the new year – after saying ‘the show had never been booked’ at the weekend following the concert’s second postponement.

The M People star will now perform at the historic city venue on April 25, after the show, which was planned for November 1, was postponed last week.

The show had initially been booked in for May 25, but was postponed for the first time earlier this year.

Last week, the Cathedral confirmed the April date after the latest postponement.

However, over the weekend, Heather issued a video on her social media pages, where she said: “It has been brought to my attention that a statement has gone out stating that I cancelled performances at Peterborough Cathedral on the first of November, and earlier this year on the fifth of May.

"I would like to clarify that these gigs were never booked, and I’m incredibly disappointed that my fans have been let down.”

However, it has now been clarified that the postponement was down to a ‘third party clerical error.’

"I’ve been working behind the scenes to try and make this work, and will be performing at Peterborough Cathedral on 25th April 2025."

Today (Monday) Heather Small MBE said: “While I’m not responsible for the cancelled show at Peterborough Cathedral on 1st November, I do feel a huge responsibility to the fans who have bought tickets and supported me over the years.

"I’ve been working behind the scenes to try and make this work, and will be performing at Peterborough Cathedral on 25th April 2025. See you all there.”

A Peterborough Cathedral spokesperson added: “We are delighted that Heather will be appearing at Peterborough Cathedral in April and we look forward to what will no doubt be an amazing event.

“The Cathedral and the promoter have acted in good faith at all times in this matter and the postponement was sadly caused by a third-party clerical error.

“So, we are now 'Movin on up' and looking forward to a great night with Heather in April!”

Following the postponement, a spokesperson for the Cathedral said: “It is with regret that we announce the postponement of the sold-out Heather Small gig at Peterborough Cathedral, which was originally scheduled for November 1st, 2024. Due to unexpected last-minute commitments, Heather has had to reschedule the performance to Friday, April 25th, 2025.

“We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause to ticket holders. Rest assured, all tickets will remain valid for the new date. Those who have purchased tickets will receive an email from their ticket provider with further details on how to transfer tickets to the new date or request a refund, if preferred.

“We deeply appreciate your understanding and patience during this time and look forward to welcoming Heather and her fans to the Cathedral in April 2025 for what promises to be a fantastic evening.”
