No bad feeling insists departing Attwood

Attwood called time on his reign late last week after only three months and 14 meetings in charge.

His decision followed soon after the appointment of previous boss Carl Johnson in an assistant role.

Johnson had previously stepped down as team manager only a few weeks into the 2016 season, but is now back in charge of team affairs with input from promoter Ged Rathbone and co-promoter Trevor Swales.

Attwood said: “I did approach Ged after the Berwick meeting last month to say that I wasn’t sure the structure was right for me.

“He asked me to give it a few more meetings, which I have done, but with a heavy heart I have decided to move on.

“It is not how I’m used to doing things and I don’t feel it’s working for me. Ged said he felt I was making the wrong decision, but that he respected it nonetheless.

“There is certainly no bad feeling and I hope the club can go on to win silverware at the end of the season.”

Their prospects of doing that haven’t been helped by the results in the two meetings since Attwood left.

Panthers were thumped 57-33 at table-topping Somerset last Friday before crashing 52-39 on home shale against Edinburgh on Sunday.
