Perry fought off a strong comeback from Ashley Hugill to win 4-2. The Fenland Potter won the first three frames thanks in part to breaks of 52 and 118, but a run of 50 in the fourth frame wasn’t enough to prevent Hugill getting on the scoreboard.

Hugill also won the fifth frame before Perry clinched the match in the sixth frame.

Perry fancies a good run in this event after a superb run to the Welsh Open semi-finals in his last tournament.

His next opponent will be either Oliver Lines or Dylan Craig.
