Action from the game between Saxons and Nottingham Caesars.

They played hosts to Nottingham Caesars at Thorney Rugby Club in their first Midlands Conference One match following promotion last season.

And they were disappointed to lose 23-12 after some lethargic defence in the second half.

Saxons, who were always behind and trailed 9-6 at the halfway point, scored touchdowns through veteran running back Bobby Ammisah, who broke three tackles to score, and defensive back Natal Melero, who ran the ball almost 80 yards for his touchdown.

The Saxons coaches named Noel Toon III and Zak Sanders as the offensive stand-out players and Mark Palmer and Chris King as the best defensive players.

American wide out Zak Sanders made his presence felt on his Saxons debut and there were also encouraging performances by fellow new signings Chris Blood and Finn James and veteran running back Scott Spearink.
