Peterborough RUFC's strong start continued thanks to their most complete performance of the season

Peterborough RUFC continued their strong start to the Regional 2 Midlands East sason with a 52-24 win over Hinckley seconds at Fortress Fengate.

It’s now three wins in four matches for Borough who are up to third in the early-season table, behind unbeaten sides Olney and Shelford.

The city side were rocked by an early injury to prop Chris Sykes, but their scrum still dominated for much of the afternoon, which was just as well as the visitors had a sharp backline.

Borough went on to deliver their most complete performance of the season. They ran in eight tries with Nick Langton and Rob Jacobs scoring two apiece, while Will Bell, Josh Casbon, Aram Jones and Robert Mould also crossed and Byron Van Uden added six conversions.

Borough director of rugby Pete Kolakowski said: “I’m pleased with how the squad is progressing. Training intensity is increasing and that’s showing on Saturdays, although we still have plenty to work on. Managing our growing injury list will be important over the coming weeks.

"It was arguably our most complete performance of the season so far, with Robert Mould bringing some real physicality and ‘dog’ from the bench.

"We also received fantastic support again. We want to make Fortress Fengate a place no-one enjoys visiting!”

Borough are at lowly Old Saltleians next Saturday (October 24).

Stamford went down 22-20 at home to Market Harborough in the same section.
