Peterborough RUFC are open for business again and have plenty to offer male and female players of any age

Peterborough RUFC attracted over 50 players to their first-pre-season training session at Fengate.

The club’s senior players train on Tuesdays and Thursdays under the watchful eye of new head coach Shane Manning at Second Drove (from 7.30pm) and prospective new members are welcome to attend.

Some teams from the club’s thriving junior section train on Wednesdays.

Borough also run a successful women’s section. This year they are celebrating their 25th birthday. The women are due to start training on Thursday, July 2 (6.30pm) with further information available from [email protected].

The Borough club is open for business with carefully controlled food and drink stations now open at Second Drove.

Director of rugby Lee Adamson said: “We are open again and we would love to see more people at the club to see what we have to offer.

“We saw 55 senior players turn up for training on the first night which was encouraging and the juniors are now also due back.

“We’ve seen some potential new players turn up as well so hopefully they will sign on.

“We tend to attract a lot of ‘walk-in’ new members and new players are always welcome.

“We are also proud of our ladies section,

“There are not many clubs in the country to have offered women’s rugby for 25 successive seasons.

“Off the pitch we have lots of outdoor tables so we are able to offer food and drink.

“We also have a resident chef.

“The sin-bin area has been turned into a coffee bar with separate entrances and exits.

“We are open from 6.30pm on training nights and all are welcome.”

Borough Womens first team played in the highly competitive Women’s National Challenge 1 Division last season.

They also offer girls’ rugby at under 18, under 15 and under 13 level.

Borough also offer junior rugby for boys at age groups ranging from Under 18s to Under 12s. Under 6s to under 11s played mixed rugby.

Under 18 girls and under 12 and under 11 boys start training next Wednesday (July 1).
