Deepings Rugby Club are ready to tackle lockdown thanks to a financial boost

Deepings Rugby Club is ready to tackle the latest lockdown after being selected to take part in a new initiative designed to support local sports clubs.

Deepings is one of 75 organisations across the country chosen by sport organisation GiveToLocal as a standard bearer for fundraising potential.

The club’s development officer Kieran Lynch said: “The potential benefits of this new initiative to our club cannot be understated.

“We are a relatively small club lacking the sponsorship of many others.

“It was an amazing feeling knowing we’d been chosen out of the hundreds of clubs that applied.

“With a sustainable contribution via GiveToLocal’s app we can provide facilities to match our first-rate enthusiasm to teach rugby and its values to those who wish to be part of our sport and community.”

GiveToLocal’s aim is to pump an additional £10m into community sport annually by backing sport, boosting business and building networks.

Via the GiveToLocal app Deepings RUFC has the potential to connect with hundreds of local donors.

Donors are asked to pledge a minimum of £3 per month and in return they can access a growing number of offers from local businesses, while £8 a month will connect firms with new customers while also backing local sport.
