Ambitious Peterborough RUFC appoint a commercial manager in bid to boost community and business links
Peterborough Rugby Union Football Club (PRUFC) has announced the appointment of Tom Lewis as Commercial Manager, supporting the club’s ongoing development as a community-focused sports hub.
With over 900 members across its mini, junior, senior and women’s sections, PRUFC continues to play a significant role in the local community. The club’s site sees usage in excess of 1,000 people per week and is regularly used by a wide range of groups, reflecting its growing importance beyond rugby.
The newly created role will focus on strengthening partnerships with local businesses, expanding community engagement, and supporting initiatives that deliver both sporting and social value.
Mr Lewis brings a strong existing connection to the club, having been a parent and coach within the age grade section for the past four years, as well as representing the club in veterans’ fixtures. He takes on the new role alongside his continued involvement within the club.
Mr Lewis said: “Peterborough RUFC is more than just a rugby club — it’s a key part of the local community. There is a real opportunity to build on that by developing partnerships that not only support the club, but also create wider value for local people, businesses and organisations.
“We want to make the club an even more active and inclusive hub, bringing people together through sport, events and community initiatives.”
The appointment supports PRUFC’s wider ambition to grow its impact both on and off the pitch, including increasing activity within the clubhouse, developing new events, and creating opportunities for local businesses to engage with the club in meaningful ways.
A club spokesperson added: “As the club continues to grow, it’s important we strengthen our community and partnership offering. This role will help us take a more structured approach to how we engage with local organisations and deliver value beyond rugby.”
PRUFC is also preparing for its ‘President’s Weekend’ on May 1-2, which will bring together players, supporters and visiting teams from across the region in a celebration of rugby and community sport.
