Deadly Dylan leads table-topping Peterborough Rugby League club to another big win

Peterborough Rugby League Club maintained top spot in Midlands Division One thanks to a strong second half showing at Leamington on Saturday.

The teams reached the interval locked together at 20-20, but the city side powered cleared in the second-half to win 48-26. Borough are top, three points clear of second, ahead of a scheduled trip to North Midlands Knights next Saturday (July 25).

The visitors struck first when skipper Luke Whitby touched down for a try before Matthew Tapley and Dylan Evans also crossed, but the hosts responded with three tries of their own to get in front. Debutant Jack Hughes and Ellis Tyler combined for the latter to level the scores before the break.

The second half saw Borough explode out of the blocks once again. Player-coach Jack Raddings, Evans, and Hughes all crossed in rapid succession, turning the contest decisively in the visitors’ favour.

A sharp break from Evans, who is also a star rugby union player, then opened the field up for Jack Green to extend Borough’s lead. Ciaran Thompson also scored before Evans completed a hat-trick of tries rendering a late Leamington response irrelevant.
