It was an Inter Club Team Select show in Halstead, an Eastern Counties event which helps to build experience in a supportive environment.

First up for the Police Club was 12 year-old Eoin McDonough who was having his first competitive bout at 32kg against Siddy Dowell from Hockley ABC. This was a cracking contest full of quality exchanges with McDonough enjoying great success with counter punching, but a split points decision went the way of his opponent.

AliJaan Raja (13) was also involved in a crowd-pleasing scrap against Jack Potter from Chalvedon ABC at 44kg. Raja is a classy technical boxer and he used his range and height well to score consistently with a sharp and accurate jab before following up with powerful backhands to register a unanimous points win.

Kian Aragosa (15) took part in his 40th bout and was up against Joe O’Reilly from Chalvedon who had beaten the local fighter twice before on close points decisions.

But Aragosa was pumped up for revenge and achieved it in style with a dominant points win thanks to his ability to force the pace and control the centre of the ring.
