Yaxley Runners steal a march in March on a famous day for the club
Yaxley Runners are celebrating one of the best results in their history when they stole a march on their rivals in the latest Frostbite League race, which was held in March.
With plenty of top three finishes in recent seasons Yaxley had threatened to win Frostbite races before without quite getting over the line.

However, their athletes mastered the muddy paths and fields of the 5.3 mile course in the shadow of Whitemoor Prison to make it a famous day for the club.
Darren Wells was the first Yaxley runner home, finishing fourth behind former Peterborough AC ace Glen Watts who finished third running in the colours of host club March AC.

The race was won by Ely runner Julian Moynihan who finished over a minute clear of the runner up Fred Krylander of Cambridge & Coleridge AC.
Yaxley’s ladies contributed hugely to their win with Kayleigh Longfoot crossing the line as first lady. Longfoot gained good support from fourth placed Abi Branston and Ros Loutit who finished 10th. Kerry Goymour in 17th and 21st-placed Ness Gunn also went well for Yaxley.
For the men Darren Hillier placed 12th with Craig Bradley 24th and George Dove 33rd. Min Migliorini crossed the line in 38th place with Carl Baron 41st and Joe Bennett 47th.
Peterborough & Nene Valley AC’s Steve Wilkinson finished 10th with Werrington’s Paul Halford 11th. PACTRAC’s Chris Northern was 21st with fellow clubmate Jaap Flikweert 25th.
Eye pair Adam Charlton & Owen Beale placed 27th & 40th respectively. Sam Cullen also ran well for Eye finishing as eighth lady.
The PANVAC ladies went well and Josie Knight crossed the finish line in second place. Alison Staines finished 16th with Rebecca Lee 18th. Bushfield’s Laura Fountain placed 20th.
PANVAC’s Toby Staines was runner-up in the junior 3km race behind Daniel Brook of Hunts AC. Harry Collister of PANVAC was fifth with Yaxley's Xander Gunn ninth.
PACTRAC’s Ophelia Goodale was the third girl home with Ellie Manning of Eye ninth.
PANVAC were fourth and Yaxley fifth in the junior race which matches their overall standings after three of the six races.
Yaxley remain third overall in the senior table, but their win has closed the gap on leaders Hunts AC and second-placed Cambridge & Coleridge.
It's all to race for in the last three fixtures with Yaxley now looking like serious title contenders.
The next races take place at Hinchingbrooke Park on Sunday, January 12.
